PROVERBS 30:4

________________________________________________________

“Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if you know?”

The first time I came across this verse, I felt like a little school boy who knew the answer to one of those tough questions the teacher presents to the class. In your mind’s eye, can you see that little guy? He’s excitedly waving his hand to get the teacher’s attention. That’s exactly how I feel about this verse and about who it is that I celebrate at Christmas. It is of course, the CHRIST of Christmas, Jesus.

But not everyone knows why there is a Christmas. Many in our community are from cultures and countries that have no knowledge of who Jesus is, why He came to earth to die that we might live, or how glorious it is to know Him.

Dear reader, can you answer the questions that King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived wrote in Proverbs 30… “Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if you know?”

Notice the question, “What is His name?” The second half of this question is like the first, “…and what is His Son’s name, if you know?” Oh! Oh! I know the answer. It’s Jesus! The One who rose from the grave! Jesus is the answer, Jesus is your answer! All you need to know today is the answer to the greatest question of all time and eternity. Here is the question, “What is His Son’s name?” Now you know the answer and you know His name, but do you know Him?
