 Hebrews 12:1

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

No one easily trips over walls. Since we began our journey with Jesus, we can all attest to the fact that He has delivered us from some pretty huge sins and/or sinful practices. We now guard against those things, which had once tried to destroy us. Falling over some sort of jumbo sin may not be our concern anymore, but what about those smaller sins that so easily trip us up?

Have you noticed that when we trip and fall over something, it is usually because we didn’t see it coming or because it was so small it was hidden from view? We can be terribly injured by what might be considered just a very little thing.

Dear Christian…be wise and alert! Watch out, not only for those monster sins, but also for those seemingly insignificant ones. Remember that Jesus had to die for ALL sin. It was all of my sin and all of your sin that put Him on the cross. Since that is true, there can be no “little” sin in our estimation. Christian, take watch against the sins of envy, jealousy, gossip and worry. You must fight with all your being against sexual temptation, pornography, pride and insecurity. We must launch a violent assault against secret sins such as evil thoughts and wicked imaginations. Our danger may well be that we have allowed some sins to hang around in our lives because we think no one sees them. The reality is that God Almighty sees them all. Such knowledge should break our hearts and bring us to contrition.

The wonderful fact is that the Lord desires to cleanse us and forgive us. He will pardon the contrite heart and the one who will turn to Him in repentance, no matter what the sin might be. Be blessed and trust Him now to do that in your life and experience the abundant life He desires you to live.
